What is the best thing to do to my concrete floor in my garage?

I've been in my house now for 4 years. The previous owners had painted it blue and it is peeling off. I would like to close it in for a man cave. What can I do to other to make it look good?

  • What about indoor / outdoor carpeting? Some really big rugs? Carpet tiles? You will want something to muffle sound anyway, and concrete floors are cold in winter so you will want to cover them anyway.

If not already done so, install sheetrock for a more finished look to the walls. Don't forget about lighting!

Pick a color or theme for the space and shop your own house first to see what you have to work with. A comfy chair, pillows, a throw or two, etc. Shop yard sales, flea markets, thrift stores for other items you may want or need. In no time you will have a great space! Have fun!

What about changing the paint color or using the epoxy garage product to change it up. I've seen the rubber mats used. It depends on what you're trying to accomplish in your garage. If you just want the floor not to look peeled repaint with a product that is recommended for this type of applicatio.

They make a vinyl flooring that locks in like a laminate. There a lot to choose from and it is easy to clean and if the floor is uneven it is the best. And you can still drive a car on it if you have to. No peeling out though.

I would use carpet tiles or vinyl planks. Both are easy to install and will go right over the floor you currently have with no prep work. Both are durable and long-lasting as well.

Will you have an issue with water seepage? Power wash the old paint and you can paint it again but with a marbled effect. If water is not an issue, I'd use vinyl planks.

I would look into acid washed concrete floor.
