Any ideas on how to keep squirrels out of pecan tree?

Tree is close to house, so they don't just climb trunk; they also jump onto tree from roof. All pecans are gone before maturing!

Moth balls emit an odor that's unpleasant to squirrels; hung from mesh bags in the tree, these may partially repel squirrels but are more effective in enclosed areas where the scent will be stronger. Sprays that emit the scent of predator urine are also partially effective; as with other deterrents, this requires frequent application and will not reach high areas of the tree.

Thank you for your suggestions...I will surely try them. It would be nice to have a pecan crop again! These pecans are big, easy to shell and delicious!
