If you hung the TV a bit lower you could put a shelf across the top bookcases to make it look built in and get creative with paint, all one color for fireplace and shelves and back of shelves and wall behind the TV with a different color to make it look cohesive. I'd also add under shelf lighting and stage the shelves and mantel to be less cluttered and more designed. Good luck!

I am a little confused....is there a shelf where your plants are sitting in front of the fireplace? And what is that on the right hand side of your picture? I think I would sit your TV on the mantel (if there is no other place) and only the TV. I would paint your shelves the color of the walls and stage the shelves with larger and fewer things. As for the fireplace itself, how about painting it a darker color or tiling it?

Yes those are plants i have way to many ! We dont use the fireplace . im thinking about a real light blue/ white color and also thinking about painting shelves or restaining them we have a beautiful hard wood floor that we are going to be sanding and maybe making it a little darker . I really want the fireplace to pop getting ideas thanks
