I purchased a new dust ruffle, comforter, shams and curtains, and shower curtain all on sale. Took a while to collect and still looking for lampshades to make over for my nightstands.

You could hang shelves and display framed pictures or artwork on them. You can create your own artwork on canvas using many different techniques. Or I have seen people just paint several canvases in bright colors and hang them in a row to add a pop of color. I agree that new bedding really ups the anty.
