You have a couple of choices:
1) Paint them. Chalk paint does a great job of painting cabinets and you should do a google search on how to do this so the cabinets come out looking great. There are many YouTube vidoes as well.
2) Use a stain on them such as Minwax PolyShades - http://www.minwax.com/how-to-finish-wood/change-stain-color-with-polyshades/
This is a stain type product that you can apply over your current cabinets to achieve the look/color you want.
