It can be a messy project! Have you considered doing a little at a time? Also, what removal method are you using? Maybe we can help you fine tune it!
Put down a drop cloth, even dollar stores sell them. Easy cleanup.
Yep, drop cloths... are you using a heat gun/ steamer to remove? If you don't have access to those, you can always soak the wall paper border, & use a hair dryer set on high heat. Another option I've used which works well, is to use an iron set on steam.
