    what type of surface do you want to paint on? For wood, is an exterior porch paint. For concrete, use a paint made for concrete. For either, you may want to seal the finished product with something like a Thompson's water seal. Have fun.

    Your fabric choice matters for how well the paint will stick. If your rug is polypropylene (has a slick, sort of oily feel) as are many outdoor rugs, any kind of paint may flake. Outdoor acrylic paint is the best - you can find it at Michaels or JoAnn.
