I found these chairs on craigslist for free. They were ugly! Dirty, rusty and just plain nasty. But they were very sturdy so I knew I could do something with them. Plus I have a large porch and these would be perfect - so I grabbed them. And it turned out that all they needed was a little scrubbing and some fresh paint.Get the full DIY at CrazyDiyMom.com
They looked awful, no wonder the owners wanted them gone. I started by taking some steel wool and removing all the chipped off paint on all of the legs. Then a little bucket of hot soapy water to remove all the dirt that was on them.
Then I grabbed my assortment of spray paint and a few garbage bags. I have a pretty big assortment of spray paints, so I only had to buy one can in a new color. Make sure, if your chairs are similar, to grab the spray paint that is meant for plastic so that it adheres nicely. I started by covering all the legs of the chairs first with the garbage bags so that I could paint the seat without painting the legs. Once the seats were all dry, I covered the seats with a garbage bag and gave all the legs a fresh coat of black paint. Then I waited patiently for them to dry.....it seems to take forever watching paint dry!
They look brand new! I absolutely love how they look and no one believes me they were the same chairs I picked up!
And the colors are absolutely perfect for my beachy front porch - I love it!To find more DIY's like this and move, [http://www.crazydiymom.com]visit us at CrazyDiyMom![/url]
