My hostas, both old and new of many different types love the morning sun. I don't think that you need to worry about them getting too much sun, it is more the afternoon hot sun they don't like. Make sure you take more care of the new plants than you normally would your mature hostas. Make sure they stay watered while they are immature as the leaves don't cover the soil to keep moisture in like the mature hostas do, they get thirsty and may not be as drought tolerant.

Truly there are very few Hostas that don't tolerate sun. I have several varieties in and around my yard in all locations. The ones with dark leaves tolerate it the best but none of the have died from too much sun. Hope this helps
