Unless you have a septic system, I like the old jingo advice: Once in every week, once in every drain, Drano! Now cut that time to every month to six months, and you are probably covered. My husband uses soap, a really creamy gel, and sometimes canned shaving cream to shave His difficult stubble. All of that goop really adds up, so Drano or an equivalent drain cleaner is needed. I clean his sink drain by removing the cap and using an old toothbrush pulling out any goop I can, but mostly cleaning the sides and rim of the drain. I leave the cap off and follow all the Drano directions, including rinsing. Replace the cap to the drain and you are finished with this job for a while! Best wishes.
Baking soda first, then vinegar, let it fizz for 15 or20 minutes then follow with at least a gallon of boiling water. Cheap and very effective without using harsh chemicals. I had a clog way down in the pipes that required professional snaking. I have been doing this recipe since and it has never come back like it did before.
I do the baking soda and vinegar thing too. Most commercial drain cleaners can eventually rot your pipes. You can purchase "enzymes" to toss in all your drains once a month at hardware and home improvement stores.
