There is a paragraph lower in this article that addresses poison ivy in shrubs that might help... http://www.nola.com/homegarden/index.ssf/2014/06/how_to_identify_and_kill_poiso.html, good luck

  • Unfortunately there is no magic wand for this. Just suit up and start digging out carefully. Or bite the bullet and hire the job out. Once out, carefully monitor the area for signs of it returning, so that if it does, you can dig out quickly before it becomes a problem again.

Thank you for the idea. I guess I will get the job done for her because she gets poison ivy easily.

I had my removed. There are people who aren't sensitive to it at all.

If their is a product that will kill it, paint it with a cheap paintbrush when you know it will not rain for a couple of days and it can absorb into the plant. Do not let your daughter get near even the dead leaves or plants or they will affect her. Dispose of the plants in the garbage, do not burn. Somehow my brother got poison ivy when my parents burned some plants that they pulled up at the cabin. My brother only had to get near the stuff to get it everywhere.

    3 cups white vinegar

    1/2 cup table salt

1 tablespoon liquid detergent or soap (I use Dawn) for stick-to-itiveness.

    Directions

    1. Mix vinegar and salt until the salt is completely dissolved. Stir in liquid dish soap, and pour into a spray bottle.
    2. Spray onto the green growing leaves of the plants.
    3. Wait a week, then repeat on any survivors. Best time to apply: during a dry spell.

    Repeat as necessary.
