10' X 20' lawn area, the lawn was not preped for grass about 6 yrs ago, before they laid down the rolls of turf. The ground is clay. The perimeter is established flower beds With limited access to bring in a small tractor. The lawn is full of ruts, small divots and is difficult to mow. Any recommendations to improve this grassy are?

Thank you, Kathy

Hi Kathy, the very best thing to do is start over. A pain, I know, but it sounds like you want it done right. You can have someone till up the ground, then you can take out the grass chunks. At that point, I would amend the soil and level it. Then add grass seed or sod. Good luck! This is a big project!

You can try to level it with small amounts of dirt placed in the lowest areas, bringing them even with the rest of the yard. The grass will grow through, so you will not have to replant.
