How can I enlarge my kitchen? Currently a walk through Galley type!

A small 1300sq ft home. The kitchen cabinets for china etc back onto mediocre lounge wall. A door to the laundry at one end, a12X12 ft dining nook with bar from kitchen at the other end. The only way I can see is to go into the laundry, but with an old fashioned hot water closet, washing machine & tub it would be too expensive to change. Thanks for your interest....Charmaine

What you can also do is re-assess how you use your currents space. I too have a galley kitchen, i found that optimizing my storage made all the difference- good luck and keep us posted!
I agree with Hillela about maximizing your storage options. Would it be possible to fit a pretty armoire somewhere in the space that could serve as additional storage for less used items or pantry items. That way, you can make better use of the storage you have in the actual kitchen. Also, consider using baskets and bins inside your current cabinets to organize them as efficiently as possible to maximize the space you already have.
Let me be the third to agree. I had a plastic shelf unit on the side of the fridge and I used it for a pantry using pretty basket and boxes. That left my actual cupboards for appliances I didn't have room for on the counters. Putting spices on the side of the fridge helps, too.
One of the things I hate about galley kitchens is when something is open on one side, you can't open anything on the other. But, you can't do much about that. I sat my microwave on a wooden tray so I can put things underneath and found that to be a space saver too. I hope those help.
