Can i grow Wisteria from a cutting. If so how do I do it? Thanks

  • Take cuttings from soft wisteria stems in late summer. Dip them in rooting hormone and place them in peat moss, sand or vermiculite, or a mixture of the three. Be sure to keep the planting medium moist. When the cuttings show signs of new growth it means roots are developing

    Wisteria can take a long time before it flowers (years) I would suggest buying one that has already flowered in the nursery.

    Unless you are very vigilant, don't grow wisteria. I had my deck actually lifted by the thick branches and it got totally out of control. I little like bamboo - it just grows and grows. Very pretty, though.
