Can you afford laminate boards or hardwood to cover the whole hallway? Linoleum comes in many designs these days and is cheaper than most floor coverings. We used laminate tiles that come in blocks and look like stone. If you have a Habitat ReStore place, they get and sell all kinds of building materials. Sometimes Lowe's and Home Depot have some extra boxes of tiles that might be big enough for your job. Measure the whole space and add a few more square feet for doorways and matching. The very cheapest would be to rent a sander and bring that whole area smooth, then clean all the dust from the whole area, and paint with cement paint. Gray seems to be the prevailing neutral. Best wishes 😇 .

Have you seen a brown paper floor? buy roll of contractors brown paper and tear brown paper into managable size pieces - crumble it up and then smooth out the wrinkles and glue it to the floor slightly overlapping the previous piece Top with several coats of polyureathene for floors. the end result looks like leather. Really beautiful !! It is a bit labor intensive But not difficult, tho you might

buy some knee pads ! I'll see if I can find demo I watched.

Check you tube for demo & exact instructions along with the products & tools needed

another option would be to look at some of the different products now available to finish concrete floors.

    Good luck

Great idea! I googled "brown paper bags glued down for flooring" and several videos popped up.

One thing they need want to do is to use a leveling compound where the seams are...fill the seams and spread out between the two. There are concrete leveling materials you can buy for this...not cheap, but the underfloor needs to be without that seam so the finished project won't "crack" open!

If you can afford it, snap-together luxury vinyl planks are the way to go. Easy to install, not too expensive, washable and durable, and they look good. The cheapest way to go is stick-on vinyl squares. You can get them for about 80 cents per square foot tile on up. They are easy to install, but don't look as good as the planks and can shift. Also they are not solid color all the way through so they wear faster.

Until you level out the floor, there is nothing that's going to stick to the floor. If you want to use self stick tiles or planks they will crack because of the uneven floor. You can try using a self leveling concrete before you put anything down. But if you don't take care of the uneven seams then you are wasting time and money. Without fixing the seams you should probably go back to carpet. Or another hometalker suggested the paper bag floor. It is a gorgeous solution. You might want to check it out. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I suggest painting the floor and then adding a couple of coats of poly. You do not have to make the design very detailed. One color for the field, then another color for the border and a third color for inside the border. If you are artistic, stenciled designs could add a lot of interest.

If You decide to sand? grind down these seems wear heavy duty masks/ respirators and disposibable coveralls or cloths you don't want to wear ever again.legs, wrist should be taped, shirt should be buttened to neck/ hair covered. Goncreate dust is very fine powder that is why sawing is done w/ diamond wet saw. If you don't want to tackle this yourself you might check w/ someone who makes concrete counter tops as they would have all the equipment to work in small area. Good luck.

A lot of good ideas but I would go with the self leveling concrete as the first step and then paint or stain.
