Depending on the size you want, I'm not sure how to answer this. My koi pond was dug with a backhoe and lined with a rubber liner.(8000 gallons) We added large rock to the edges and smaller rounded rocks on the bottom, a waterfall for oxygen, plus two "caves" for the fish to shelter in. (If your area freezes, the depth must be at least 36 inches in some sheltered area for the fish to hibernate.) Add water with a hose and let it circulate with a correct size pump for about a week. The fish should do just fine. Get ready for a learning experience!
