Smart meterRF radiation is not dirty radiation. The smart meter continuously communicates with the central hub wirelessly. The amount of RF radiation that the smart meter gives off is much less than that of a cell phone since it only transmits data. The wiring in your home gives off much more RF and EMF radiation that a cell phone or smart meter. And your surrounded by a ring/circle of RF/EMF radiation in your home. Limiting or stopping cell phone usage and ridding your home of electricity would be better served than worrying about a smart meter.

It is a two way meter. Even the electric company admits to the dirty radiation and gave some ideas. All of the electrical in the house is corded, no smart phone or microwave either. Metal blinds for the windows or wrap the pipe it's connected to as well as the outside of the meter just not in front. I am not able to go on a ladder. I do not depend on cell phone, won't use wifi, or cordless phone.

The wires in your walls are giving off RF and EMF radiation. And your surrounded by them. Any motor in the home gives off EMF radiation.

    My concern is privacy.

Smart Meters are a surveillance device. They are a search without a warrant. They collect detailed energy usage, for instance: when you cook, watch TV, whether you are home or not, when you turn on a light, or if you have guests. This data is very valuable because it can reveal patterns about what you do and when. California utility companies admitted they are providing smart meter data to the government and third parties.

Smart meters are a part of an overall system that includes, where wireless is the means of transmission, a series of wireless antennas at the neighborhood level. The system collects and transmits wireless information from all the smart meters in your area and sends it back to the utility company. They do so by using microwaves or radio frequency radiation, just like your cell phone, wireless router at home, TV, radios, computer screens, cell towers.

Conspiracy theorists that are against the use of smart meters have reported about health risks which are unfounded. The systems are so new that none of these claims can be verified nor justified.
