What is the best way to insulate and clad interior walls of concrete?

House is historic, built of molded concrete which looks like bricks. Regular insulation does not work because of porousness of the material. Original house interior is plaster, with no insulation. I have read many articles, most of which agree that the matter is controversial and no approach for insulation seems definitive. Help, please!
