Very small bathroom

by Polly Zieper
I need help finding something to use to store a few rolls of TP, some feminine supplies, and maybe a can of Lysol. My bathroom is 2 rooms- 1 with tub and sink/vanity, and 1 with the toilet, that's about as big as a stall in a public bathroom

  • How about a cabinet behind the toilet? I have one in the full bath and it works better than shelves. Any wall cabinet will work.

I'd agree that a wall-mount shelf could work or cabinet behind the toilet -- or maybe a small shelf under the sink!

Yooooooooou don't bump your head when you get up from the toilet? And the metal ones look rickety-unstable. Where did you get yours?
    • @Polly Zieper No you do not bump your head. You hang the cabinet about 2' above toilet. This is just a wall cabinet. check out your home stores in the clearance and markdown areas for damaged one that you could paint and hide flaws. measure behind the toilet from wall to wall to either find a cabinet that size or smaller. Works great for extra storage!

Thanks, but the sink isn't in the same room as the toilet. Its hard to explain. Many FL homes have a small room with the tub and/or shower and vanity/sink, then a much smaller room in that room, like a bathroom stall, with just the toilet. That's what we have.

I had the same problem, then got a great idea from my sister that she used: a wicker basket with a lid. It looks good too!

@Polly Zieper any kind with a lid.. you might even think of a vintage "train cosmetic case" I also have found baskets w/ lids at Michaels and Joann's fabrics and crafts. even a spendy NEW ENGLAND Cape Cod baskets or any small container with a lid..sewing basket with cute fabric or beat up you could spray paint and recover with fabric of your choice..I LOVE BASKETS..so may uses..

I've always loved the idea of shelves built in between the wall studs!

@TinaMarie our neighbor maxed out her kitchen space by doing her small kitchen cabinets the same idea--recessed between the studs. it made such a difference on a whole wall in the amount of space in a tiny kitchen..It DID take a bit more planning, but so worth it..

It doesn't take up any more room than what you already have, and it just looks neat!

@Leslieb127 Thank you! I'm off to Home Goods, bed, bath&beyond, etc, to find an inexpensive basket with a lid, great solution!

HomeGoods has a lot of pretty cabinets that go over the toilet and aren't too big. We installed one in our upstairs bath a few years ago and it holds tp, etc.

The toilet is against the wall. I don't know how I could hang a cabinet behind it. Over it, maybe, but not behind it.

thanks, Leslieb, I looked yesterday evening and couldn't find one with a cover.

Is it possible to place a shelf over your door, in between the space between the door frame and ceiling? I'm not sure how high your ceilings are, if you can a cute basket could hold the fem supplies and the tp could set out on the shelf itself.

Yes, there is room for a shelf over the door, I'm just not sure we'd be able to reach supplies when we need them.(only my husband could-he's 6 ft tall., but my daughters and I are 5 ft.
