I do not put out anything but eggshells coffee grounds, fruit and vegetable scraps From the kitchen. This is added to grass and leaf clippings. Neighbors do not seem to understand.

Do you have it in a compost bin?

Just tell them rats are not vegetarians and that's all you put in yours. They are carnivores and anyone that puts meat, bones, or dairy in their compost bins are idiots. That will attract rats and not supposed to go in a compost bin anyway. If they don't get the drift then just walk away.

Sorry wrong answer rats are actually omnivores! Wild rats not only eat seeds, grains, nuts, berries and other fruits, but they also eat worms, insects, fish and eggs! So your compost pile can attract rats unless you have a closed unit.
