Vintage Jars and Old Wood Project

I'm all about reusing old materials to make something new. My dad often brings me home old wood that he finds, and this project came to life using those boards, and an estate sale find. I don't know what quite to call it - a centerpiece? A vase? Whatever it is, I think it turned out pretty neat! If you like reusing old stuff, too, you should check out my page devoted to all of my upcycled projects!
I found these bottles at an estate sale. The owner clearly worked in a barber shop, or cleared out an old barber shop, because the wall in the garage was lined with these old bottles. I picked up three, but I wish I had grabbed more!
I cut two pieces of wood to the length I wanted the vase/centerpiece to be, and then drilled holes in the top slightly larger than the openings in the bottles.
To figure out the height of the sides, I just placed the bottles on top of the bottom board, placed the top piece with the holes over the bottle, and measured the distance.
Once the sides were cut, I used wood glue and then nailed them in place.
Obviously, these jars are now permanently in place, but because I sealed the wood, it's okay if a little water gets splashed on them when emptying or filling up the jars.
