Painted Kitchen Cabinets

In the late 1970's we moved into a very run down Victorian. To save money we did whatever we could ourselves. The kitchen had been remodeled in the '50's when a doctor lived there, when he moved the house was allowed to deteriorate badly. Instead of ripping out the '50's cabinets and replacing them at a cost of almost $5,000.00, I painted them. Some people don't like them, most people do. I totally enjoyed painting them and have enjoyed them every day for the last 34 years. I hope you enjoy them and understand the whimsy and fun behind them being painted in such a non traditional way. The 2nd and 3rd photos are a close up of the ladies in the corner watching an egg hatch.

By the way, the window to the right of the cabinets was a 1950's window. To replace it was not in the immediate budget since everyone we asked to do it thought we were simple minded to buy such a house and seemed to think they could get exorbitant amounts of money for any work. I taped it off into small squares and painted it with the same painting method as the cabinets. Not one person has ever noticed that it is simply painted to look like this.

@Victoria Maldonado Hi Victoria. I just found out the other day that this house was buily in 1880, I've been telling people since I've been here that it was built in the late 1890's. We had a long narrow kitchen in a previous house, how convenient it was!!!!!!!!! Thank you for liking my chickens!!!!
