Can a glaze be applied over chalk paint on kitchen cabinets?

I am in the process of painting my kitchen cabinets with a cream chalk paint and think that a dark glaze would look good instead of distressing to darken them up a bit.
I have not applied any wax and was actually going to apply clear polycrylic to seal them. Is it too late or is there another way to darken them without wax?

Bowling alley wax works very well and seals against moisture. It is in paste form
You need to wax them first and then use the polycrylic to seal them - for kitchen, I'd do 2-3 coats of sealer.
Great! I was not sure if you could use the polycrylic over the wax.
