Simple, but unique, inexpensive DIY ideas?

Great! Everyone has to start somewhere! Can you post a photo of the area you want to plant? How much sun or shade does the area have? Something pretty but still covers the ground would be sedum, creeping thyme or silver carpet.

I've been a DYI crafter for lots of years and love making something from "nothing". The best advice I can share is turn your creativity loose. I purposely look for ways to reuse things for something different. I love to repurpose just about anything from containers to parts and pieces of things and cheap thrift store finds. When I need fabric I look at sheets, curtains, tablecloths, anything I can cut up for what I need. When my old boots got a hole, I made them into a planter. The internet is a wealth of ideas to get you started, just add your own personal touch. Good luck!

Hey, Georgia girl! I'm originally from the Peach State, too. One thing that is still popular that would get you started is painted rocks. If you have rocks near your house, or can get some flat river rocks, then the base is free. Almost any kind of paint will do. If you want to paint the whole rock first, then buy a can of the cheapest neutral paint you like. I'm talking about a spray can of white, navy, gray, black--or even orange, or use something in your garage. For the accent paints, look in the children's toy dept. for a strip of acrylic paints and some ten for $1 paintbrushes. You can even use a bit of sponge and some toothpicks to paint with. Now, write an inspirational word like Faith, Courage, or Joy on each rock. Add some painted flowers, hearts, a cross, or another decoration like a glued on tiny silk or real flower or petal. When the acrylic paint is completely dried, spray with two or three thin layers of acrylic sealer, another $1 at Dollar Tree. Voila! You have a craft good enough for a church bazaar or for every friend's birthday for weeks--your own hand painted creation, for nearly nothing. Best wishes 😇
