Over the years my mother used mop and glo to polish the vinyl tiles in her living room. I tried using a floor stripper but it didn't work and no other cleaners have worked. What. An I do to get these tiles clean?

I have used straight ammonia to strip wax and any buildup on my floors. Ventilate well and make sure there are no pets in the house. Fumes will kill pet birds

You probably need to totally strip the floor of wax buildup. Ammonia will work, although it's quite odoriferous. then you would need to top with a floor polish.

Your vinyl manufacturers make a stripper that you apply that will take all of the layers of mop n glo off. Once removed, the vinyl manufacturers make a polish that you mop on and let dry. Your floor will look new. Then mop with mild detergents and when it gets dull clean floor well and apply another finish.

Ammonia works well, and it doesn't have to be full strength. Dilute it some and test on small area to see if it does the trick. If not, add more ammonia. You can let it set on the vinyl for a few minutes if the wax is very thick. Ventilate the house well while using. After it's clean, mop with plain water, changing the water frequently to remove any ammonia/wax residue. Re-wax with a commercial grade wax. May have to go online to find something good. Do not use abrasive cleaners like Comet as it will scratch the floor's surface and dull it. Dirt will get back into those scratches very quickly. It's a little bit of work, but your floors should look amazing when you are finished! Good luck!

Amonia fumes are very toxic. Wear a mask that filters the fumes or you could end up in the hospital. I cannot use amonia as I have asthma. It is not a product that I have around me and I don't use it. I have always moped with white vinegar and my floors never look dirty or dull.

Replace floor. Keeping it clean is too hard when floor has been damaged by cleaners. Been there and done that!

Your floor looks a lot like mine before I started using Bona Stone and Tile Polish. I bought it when my mother visited my apartment one day and man! She got me this tile polish and I realized why the floor of our home looks so amazing. Give it a try.

According to the manufacturer, Mop & Glo can be removed from sealed ceramic tile flooring using a solution of 1/4 cup Lysol All-Purpose Cleaner and 1 cup ammonia added to 1/2 gallon of warm water.
