@Penny. I'm going to guess that you are talking about a barn or work lantern. Unscrew and unfasten the parts of the lantern. Clean the glass part, if any, with warm soapy water. It may take several times. Make sure all of the fuel is out of the lantern, wiping it inside and out with paper towels. Then clean all of the metal parts with a degreaser, wiping dry with a soft cloth. If you don't plan on burning the lantern, remove the wick and don't refill with fuel. Spray paint all the metal pieces in the metallic or color finish you want. (You may want the wick handle or other parts a different finish.) I usually go with black, white, red or a metal so I can use the lantern for several occasions. For autumn, stick sprigs of silk or real leaves among the metal parts, and tiny pine cones, evergreen berries, or other autumn decorations. Use a battery or solar candle in the lantern and enjoy. Best wishes 😇
