I had some paint sitting here doing nothing, so, on a whim, I decided to paint a table. icon (This was before I started reading Hometalk.) ERROR!icon It's shiny but not slick. It feels tacky after months! It hides under a tablecloth at all times. Please help my table be able to show it's face again! Thanks!icon

first off you need to realized paint will not adhere to existing finishes. Many will say it will work, however if there is a finish on the wood it will not be possible.Lightly sand, clean, allow to dry and start over.

Oh no! I have done things like that, on a whim, SO many times! I can't assure you that chalk paint will fix it, but I don't see why it wouldn't. I'd give it a try, for sure! Take a picture!

I'm wondering what type of paint you used that would still be tacky after so much time. You could try Chalk Paint over it, but you might want to rough sand it first to remove the tackiness. Good luck with your project!
