What is the best type of paint to use to make your own chalk paint?

I tried making and using this paint about a year ago using directions off of Hometalk. Unfortunetly even tho I cleaned my cabinet doors very good first the paint has since developed a lot of chips and peeling in places

Is a poly urethane used to coat after painted?
That will turn yellow. Use polycrylic. It's latex-based. Easy clean-up!
