Have You Every Wanted To Try Planting Succulents? by Michelle Masterson

We all ready have that in common! Hope you didnt come by thinking I have this like PHD. diploma in horticulture – I don’t.
I doubt I could even be considered a specialist on the topic at all!
Wanted to show you, how I am introducing myself to “growing succulents” under the palm.
Hubby bought these at Lowes.
Pick out 4 types you like. You may only need three but once you see how much fun these are you might wish you had another one! (I did)
Cinder Block
This is a “Cinder Block”. I had seen many of these over the years, dropped on my feet, and thought they were boring contruction item or only for fire pits & outside seating. Right? It’s your new planter for your succulent!
I personally have been dubbed the “SPRAY PAINT QUEEN” by my neighbors. Goes to show they don’t know much because I used acrylic paint & 1 can of spray paint- Clear. The clear is used to seal.
Paint on your base color- in this example I used white. When dry spray your clear paint on. This will seal the porous block.
It’s the only way you can stencil or free hand paint on your block. Once you are done stenciling or painting your design & IT’S DRY  give it another spray of your clear coat.
If you mess up your design (Ohm, like I did – just repaint your base coat & start the process over. (I wasn’t happy about it but if I didn’t there would be no post today to be proud of)
Plant your succulents only after your design is done.

Yes, you are right! The cinder blocks have no bottoms. You’re  wondering what I did. I had some wire screen that hubby was sending out to trash. I rescued it!

Cut it to size with wire snips. Took a couple freezer bags outside to cut to fit the space. Taking that piece of freezer bag -you  poke holes in it.

I used a screw to poke holes in the bag. I happened to injury myself so be careful! Or find a better way to get those holes!

I added some “fairy garden” items to my block with super glue. You just find some items of your own or just stick with the painting- either way you’ll have a unique-one of a kind planter for your succulents!

Ready?
The “Blue Moon” -that’s a visual for my husband and I.
He says that familiar saying”Once in a blue moon you meet that one person who is your world & baby you’re mine!”

If you do this budget friendly planter will you come back and post yours here in the comments? Thanks! ~Michelle~
