These are made from a Mason Jar, glass paint and an led light hung with fishing line. pick your favorite image.
I started by Painting my image, I drilled 2 small holes on the top of the lid then painted it black, I added room freshener beads found at the dollar store, the is a plastic lid on these and I cut the plastic to fit under the mason jar lid then I fastened the fishing line with the led light under the plastic to make the lantern light up.
Suggested materials:
  • Mason jar   (Dollar tree)
  • Glass paint   (Hobby Lobby)
  • Mini led light   (e-bay, 12/8.00)

I love how your jar lights up with the added benefit of scenting your room but I'm confused on how you got your lights attached. Can you show a picture of the lights attached outside of the jar? Does the light hang down inside the gel beads and if so doesn't the water keeping the beads plump effect your light or cause it to short out or stop working? Also where is your battery pack attached. I'm guessing you have to unscrew the lid everytime you want to turn on or off your lights? Love to make one of these but can't figure out the lighting part and if your using a mini string of lights, fairy lights or just one single bulb? This would make such a pretty night light in a bathroom where having scent would be an added bonus.

How does the scent get out with the lid on the jar?

Please explain what type of light was used and how it was attached.

I would also like to know more about what type of light you used and how you attached it.
