i bought a desk at a yard sell for $5.00 it was painted red. i just lightly sanded it. and applied a walnut varnish right over the old paint. let it dry completly then lightly sanded with extra fine sandpaper. added a few antique looking knbs for drawer. sold it for $50 bucks
