Dining Room Sliding Glass Door. Curtain Rod Ideas Needed

Looking for rod ideas to span 85" wide over sliding glass doors without using a brace or bracket in the middle. I have a vision of tab curtains that can be fully open to ONE side in order to expose the room to light and have access to sliding door at the same time. There is no room on the door side to extend a rod which would allow the curtains to be opened from the middle.

Either tab or grommeted curtains. Amazon's got a ton, I know I just spent two and a half days looking before deciding.

If you don't want a center support for your curtain rod, look for one that is sturdy enough to go the whole length without sagging. The weight of your curtains will have to be taken in consideration also. Grommeted curtains would pull best.

I couldn't find rods ..so we bought some pipe from the plumbing section, spray painted it and I took some end pieces off of some old rods and made what I needed .

  • I have a very similar set up and also have an after market doggie door to contend with. Just by accident, I fell over a sturdy double rod at Bed Bath & Beyond. I ended up using rings with the clips and purchased more rings than are typically used and it turned out well. I have sheers underneath for filtered sunlight.

I love the pipe idea. Rustic and industrial looking!
