Turn chairs over, find the screws that hold the seat on, presuming these are already padded seats, and remove screws. Seat should come off. You will need about 3/4 of a Audrey of fabric per chair, depending on how large the seat is. Lay seat on wrong side of fabrics and use a staple gun to secure, do one side, pull veryight and do the opposite side. Then do remaining two sides. Fold and tuck corners to as smooth a fit as possible, trim excss fabric, reattach seat to chair.
While you're at the fabric store picking out your beautiful new fabric , you may want to think about replacing the old foam .
Also, since the new ones will be around food and drinks , after you've finished , I'd spray thoroughly with Scotch guard or a similar product to protect from future dirt and stains. I'm a retired nurse and mother of four so I'm all about prevention . Have fun with your project and please post photos of the end result !
I was thinking I would need both new foam and fabric protection - your note is a good reminder! Thanks
Don't be overwhelmed, your chairs are the easiest type to redo! No sewing, stable gun, screwdriver and scissors are all you need. Have fun with it, don't spend too much on fabric (I usually purchase my fabric on sale or in the discontinued section). You will be amazed at how easy it is to get a great 'new' look!
