How can I remove black mold without spending a fortune on an expert?

    Bleach, Bleach, Bleach. Then a special mold-resistant paint (yes, there is such a product) Wear a heavy duty mask.

    You can buy mold remediation at home Depot or Lowe's . Bleach won't do it .

    You need to find the source of the mold. You may need to remove drywall insulation, clean and dry the area. Mold tends to grow from inside out. If you clean the surface and it comes back you have internal mold problem.

    Need a little more info.

    WHERE is the mold? Bathroom, , kitchen?

    How MUCH mold is there?

    small job, use bleach. ( equal amounts of water and bleach) leave til the mold

    disappears, then rinse with water.

    I have also tried MOLDEX, , works pretty good, without the bleach smell.
