Home Depot sells contact paper like film in a variety of designs that you can put on glass to make it look like stained glass or frosted glass. It still lets light in or out. My husband used it to cover the glass in the bathroom window and the front door . Privacy and lots of light. It would work on a lamp shade too though and be really easy to do.
