I've been on the lookout for a birdbath, so I have been checking out garden centers etc and they are pretty pricey. So after some thought, once again I decided to DIY it and used some terra cotta pots and paint to make one on my own. It was fun!
I started out with 4- 6inch pots and 2 plant bases .I then painted them a pretty blue color. Then I let the pots dry.
I started to build the birdbath. I took one base and turned it upside down and stacked the pots and glued them all together. I alternated the direction of the pots.
I bought some dollar store gems and hot glued them to the bottom middle and top of the bath. They really made such a difference, its starting to really look pretty.
I still felt like it needed a little something more. I remembered that I still had a bird stencil left over from another project and decided to use it for the birdbath. Just a little white paint, and voila! How cute? Lastly I sprayed a clear coat over everything and that made it all look even and shiny. All I needed for this pretty birdbath was some terra cotta pots and a few gems!
Suggested materials:

Beginner at DIY projects, would like to try this small birdbath as a first project. Does anyone have a recommendation for what glue gun to buy? Or a caveat as to what type NOT to buy for outdoor projects? And what kind of paint will last best outdoors on terra cotta? Thanks.

Couldn't one use E6000 for everything...not using a glue gun at all? Please let me know....I've never used E6000 but I hear good things about it. Can it stand up to freezing Kansas weather? This is such a cute idea!!!! BTW my livingroom walls are the same as the orange walls in this post. Mine is frosty melon. I took a chance...got scared at first...but we love the color! Fresh and cheery! Thanks again for the idea!

Any suggestions for securing the bath I made similar from critters other than birds (raccoons, squirrels, skunks) from tipping over the bird bath if they try to climb on it to get a drink?
