What kind of flower plants can I plant up in the mountains?

I live in the southwest corner of Utah elevation almost 9000 feet, growing season short, weather cool most of the time. If the weather doesn't kill my plants the deer, chipmuncks and squirrels will.

    I lived also at 9000 ft in Durango CO. Pansy's tolerate the cold very well. It even snowed on mine and they servived until winter really set in. The petals are also good to eat on your salad if you like.

    I had some friends who scattered mixed wildflower seeds On the side of a hill. It was beautiful! It's also a commitment. They are hard to get rid of if you change your mind.
