Can I use latex paint over oil paint on walls and woodwork?

    Yes, but you must first sand and prime.....twice before painting with latex.

    Lightly sand the surface with fine sandpaper (180 to 220 grit) to remove the gloss.


    Remove the dust with a sponge and clean water, then allow the surface to dry.


    Apply a coat of a quality bonding primer like Zinsser 123 or BIN, and allow the primer to dry.


    Topcoat with two coats of high quality latex paint.

    I've done it many times with great success! Yes, use a primer first and then your latex paint. Good luck!
