ServePro is the group that does this type of thing in our area.
  • check with your homeowners policy to see if it covers this. Serve Pro is excellent but they are quite expensive. If you have to DIY, then use your shop vac (get another filter just to use for water, and suck up as much water as you can. Use your towels to soak up and wash immediately so that they do not smell or mold. Buy, borrow, or use a dehumidifier to dry up the area. Leave on for a few days until the water reservoir does not fill up and the area is dry. good luck.
  • Your insurance company. Also be very careful of using companies such as SP and others. Ideally you need to get the area evaluated by an independent contractor to determine the extent of the damage. Many insurance companies will only allow companies to fix the obvious areas and forget about what you cannot see. Moisture behind cabinets and under them can cause all sorts of mold issues that simply will not be covered by the adjuster and the company that they suggest to do the work. Have questions? Contact me through HT and I will provide you with some suggestions on how to proceed.

You definitely want to find a good licenses mold inspection/remediation company in your are. Any reputable company is licensed and bonded/insured and will give you a free estimate with a couple different treatment options and pricing depending on the extent of the damage and what type of treatment chemicals you want to use (such as green, baby friendly, etc). They should also take water and fiber samples and test them for you to determine the types of molds that may be breeding.
  • It is very difficult to understand you situation without having a look at it. Therefore, you should get in touch with a professional water damage restoration company in your area.
