Can I plant flower seeds in mulch with fabric underneath?
The landscaper raked out the fresh topsoil, put down a fabric weed barrier, and covered it in 2 - 3 inches of mulch. I'd like to have a small area of hummingbird/butterfly mix to add color. Can I put the seed on top? or do I need to move the mulch and cut out a section of the fabric barrier?

i would start the seeds in a small planter or can even start them in egg shells till there a couple inches tall. theyd be more likely to survive
You can put it down on top. I have done this and it grows up, just make sure it gets water.
