Yes use large pots with drainage holes and garden soil.Keep moist at all times making sure you water in the early morning.Place in full sun.Fertilize them after they have been planted for two weeks and use a water soluble food. This will take e place of the watering for that day. When the tomatoes start really growing remove the bottom suckers to allow for more aeration and pinch off any flowers to close together.

I use pots of different sizes. Don't laugh, the fertilizer that I use is a mixture of egg shells and coffee grounds mixed into the soil. I use this when I first plant and then add every two weeks through the end of the growing season. Make sure you have a cage or something for them to climb also. Happy growing!

Tomatoes need really large pots. Peppers need pots that will go with mature size. I usually use a really large pot and plant three peppers in it. For single plant I would go with a twelve inch put for peppers. A lot of the larger plastic pots don't come with drainage holes pre drilled, make sure that you drill enough holes to allow for good drainage. I put my really large pots on the short roller plates you can get in most stores, If you can, make sure the casters are durable, not all plastic as they fall apart easily. The may cost more, but work so much better and some even come with the ability to lock them. Put gravel in bottom of pot, good potting soil, most now come with fertilizer already in them, check the bag for info as to how long the slow release is good for. I usually mix in a bit more peat moss into the potting soil for good measure. Plant your plants and water them real well to make sure all the soil is wetted down. Try to make sure your plants don't get too dry. In hot weather they need more moisture. If the leaves wilt they are too dry, I find the peppers show it first in my garden before any other plants. If you stick your finger into the soil in the pot and it is dry about two inches down you definitely need water. Lately as hot as it has been I have to water every day, all of my pots and they are thriving real well.
