We've lived in the same house for 20 years and still have the original carpet. Trying to figure out how to level the floors before laying laminate wood flooring.

You have to remove the carpeting, padding, tack strips, any nails/staples. Then check to make sure the floor is level. More likely they are. Then install the laminate flooring per instructions.
