This the first time i have tried to grow sweet potatoes. I bought six plants. i have four of them in a raised garden plot and two of them in above ground planters. The garden plot is about six inches deep. The the soil becomes red clay. The planters have five to seven inches of soil. Will these plantings survive and produce?

6" deep and about 12" apart and cover the slips when filling in.

SO, your planters should work just fine. Make sure to put a layer of dirt on the bottom to keep the plant from touching the bottom of the container/planter.
