I have wallpaper on top of wallpaper. Can I just paint over it?

I tried to remove the top layer of wallpaper and found out there was more underneath. I would like to know if there is a way to paint over it. I am disabled and won't be able to spend a lot of time removing it with water and a scraper.

Hi Jem, I would not recommend you paint over 2 layers. It will peel, bubble and look bad. My best advise is to get a wallpaper steamer. You can get one at Walmart, Lowe's or you can even rent one. Steam is the key. Here's a video I found to show you how easy it is! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjaZacfzXzc

    Good luck!

It is recommended to take the wallpaper off prior to painting.Down the road the paper will peel and bubble

Lightly sand it first and use a primer. But I agree, after a while it may start peeling off anyway.

I would take it off. I know that it feels overwhelming, but you will have better overall painting results long term if you take it off. Good luck!

I agree with Nancy. I have already been there & everything is good. P.s. It's been awhile ; no peeling. Have fun.lightly sand, prime & paint. T.J. Indiana girl.
