    Probably centipede or St. Augustine.

Centipede. I used Vigaro for fertilizer. Don't remember the numbers on it, but I believe a "0" was the middle number. Had the nicest yard on our street.

Centipede is great and it loves the sun. Sometimes the seed can take over a year to germinate but it covers fast. The only problem, as I live in coastal Alabama also, is that it does not take salt well. After hurricanes Ivan and Katrina, when we had several feet of water in our yard, we didn't have much grass left. We changed to Palmetto St. Augustine. To do so we bought sod, cut it up in small pieces, about 4x4, and planted it about 2 feet apart all over the yard. We had our lawn back by the next summer and this grass is much more lush and a darker green.
