  • I went through this as a child as we only had one bath room. We tried to limit the amount of time without a toilet to one or two days and actually used a portable commode during the night and made arrangements with a very kind neighbor during the day. As I recall, we also went to the gym (Ymca) once to take a shower until the tiles were all set. If you can stay with someone for a couple of nights, that would be optimum.

A nice neighbor comes in very handy during this sort of thing. try to arrange the remodeling schedule to allow only a day or two without each fixture...so, do your tub area first...then when it is finished, do your toilet area, then your sink area. Unless you are ripping out walls, you should be able to do this fairly easily in stages.

  • Camp in the back yard with a port a potty if you do not have neighbors. Or, if possible, rent an RV for a few days. Or borrow one from a friend if they have one. If you have kids, make it an adventure! Grill your dinners and set up outdoor activities and crafts to keep them busy and out of the way so you can finish as quickly as possible.
