Amazing Credenza Makeover!!

I feel like I'm always saying that my latest project is my favorite - but this time, I REALLY mean it! We bought this tired old bedroom bureau through the online classifieds for a cool $125. It is quite large (66" long) and it weighs a TONNE. We needed something to help us transition in our bedroom before we redid that room and this piece fit the 'temporary' bill.
But when the time came to part with this furniture beast - I just couldn't do it. We decided to move it to the playroom, thinking it could act as a storage credenza of sorts. The compartments on the sides are large enough for baskets and I figured the drawers could hold video games, headphones and all that kind of stuff.
I didn't really have a vision for the piece. I just started to take it apart. I was SO HAPPY when I found the damaged top was just held on by a few finishing nails and screws. So I popped it right off.
I built a new top out of 1x8s and quarter round and stained it a natural oak colour (to match the other wood tones in the room). And then I went to town with paint! The 'body' of the credenza got a couple coats of bright white....and the drawers got a super special treatment! I went bold and PINK!! What?! I know :)
I even figured out a way to modernize the drawer pulls by building my own horizontal handles from wood. I'm so darn pleased with how this transformation turned out.
I hope you have a chance to visit my blog where I spill all the details on the whole thing including the products I used!! - Erin

I think it's really cute too. I generally don't like pink but I do in this project. Thanks Rosa
