    Yes the seeds take several weeks to germinate

    You didn't say where you live. I would go with purchased tomatoes as an already growing tomato will survive the coming heat better than a newly germinated plant that will be much more fragile.

  • You can, but your yield may be slim. I would at least try, but supplement with purchased plants. Goid luck! A week ago or so I just planted a few more purchased plants. Already growing well, but I am in So. CA and can have tomatoes into November.

    If you have a short growing season, yellow pear tomatoes are great. I have heirloom babies still popping up now in Phoenix, doesn't hurt to try.
