What is the best way to set up a strawberry patch?

We bought our first house four months ago. We have always had a garden but now that we're at a permanent home we'd love to have a strawberry patch and also maybe next growing season an asparagus bed. We bought some strawberry plants and put them in a sunny area, but they were either duds or we planted too early. Any advice on how to have a productive patch would be greatly appreciated.😃 Thanks

I highly bed to begin with and I really regret not doing so. Asparagus will last about 20 years so it's well worth the investment. The main plant of the strawberries will die back but the runners will take their place so you have a continuous supply. Good luck with your garden!

You should start preparing your asparagus area this year for planting next spring. A bit of work in the beginning but so worth it. You can also do a search and get loads of info on both strawberries and asparagus. Rhubarb is another perennial plant that I love. Strawberry/rhubarb pie is delicious!
