At a craft store you can get a cream that you rub into the grooves to antique something. It comes it back or brown. It will be with the acrylic paints.
Besides the chalk paint, after you paint use a paper towel or rough side of a cleaning sponge and wipe down let dry then repeat until you get the look you want. Let dry in between coats. I've done this looks good!
